Wednesday's WordShe kept waking up startled, with a start, willing her memory to not wake up, but just like the sun that never fails to come up, the stories she had watched on the news came flooding to the surface of her consciousness….”No,” she groaned to the silence. “Please tell me this nightmare’s over.” She pulled herself out of bed, despite wanting to just pull the covers over her head and not wake up until the government declared it safe to enter life again.
Thanks for joining us for Wednesday’s Word with Trench Classes United and Kim-Evinda. Come on in for some encouragement in the midst of uncertainty. “I’ll never do that again,” she said to the morning as she willed herself up and out of bed. As she quickly made it, she thought about her previous night’s sleep, or the lack of it, and realized she had made a big mistake in tuning into the news right before bed. The realization collided with the revelation that though she liked to relax and get to a sleepy stage via the television, watching the news during this season of uncertainty plagued with rising numbers of deaths due to COVID 19 was one she wouldn’t be repeating. She carried her little four-legged baby downstairs and let her out for her morning routine. As she went through her own morning ritual of getting her coffee and a pre-breakfast snack, the quiet embraced her and held her steady in her thoughts which took her into her quiet time she rarely missed. As she rewound the previous day, she couldn’t help but smile at the number of times she had to remind herself that she didn’t need to hurry to do this task, or hurry to get that thing done, or rush to grab a bite to eat. No, she was determined to take from this season all that she could while it was taking from others their lives. In fact, a huge miracle is she was planning meals now, and taking her time to choose healthily instead of hurriedly, and using food as it’s intended, grace for the body. Lord, Your word promises that ALL things will be used for our good and Your glory and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in this life, Your word NEVER lies. So perhaps, this is a time to tune out so we can tune in to the One who will help us feed our faith and tune out the fear that is screaming out on social media, on the news, and even in the places we are allowed to go. Fear and chaos sell; faith is not for sale. In fact, faith costs us laying down our old thought life and propensities to doubt and tune in to He who has overcome every virus and disease, and loves you and I with His WHOLE heart. Love, Kim-Evinda
