Faith-Filled Friday Have you ever been told you are not teachable? What does being teachable mean to you?
Thanks for joining us for Faith-Filled Friday with Debra Dolce and Trench Classes United. You know, even in the worst of storms, there is always a whisper of a lesson. Today’s love letter shares this very thing. ~Love Letter~ My precious child, you have been given a teachable heart to perceive the secret, hidden mysteries of My Kingdom's realm. But to those without a listening heart, My Words are merely stories. Even though they have eyes, they are blind to the true meaning of what I say, and even though they listen, they won't receive full revelation. The question is not can you, but do you? Do you have a teachable, listening heart? Are My Words just good stories, or do you find the meaning and apply it to your life? Do you walk in your own ways, and then bring Me in? Some wonder why things never work out for them. Some question their growth. Check your heart. Do you have eyes but don't see? Do you have ears but don't hear? Check your own thoughts, desires, motives and behaviors. Since you have been given a teachable heart, come and spend time with Me so that you may hear and perceive the secret, hidden mysteries of My Kingdom's realm. Beloved, spend time with Me that you may be transformed into My image. ~DebraDolce

A boy asks his father, "Dad, are bugs good to eat?" Somewhat preoccupied, the dad replies: "That's disgusting. Don't talk about things like that over dinner.” After dinner the father asks, "Now, son, what did you want to ask me?" "Oh, nothing," the boy says. "There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone." Oh, friends, how many times are we stuck in our own thoughts that we pay others little attention? There is so much to be gained when we choose to disconnect from this thing called a cell phone and connect with those we love. Be encouraged. You are going to rise.”
She looked at the scripture address, which looked vaguely familiar, found it in the Bible. “What does that have to do with what I’m going through now, she wondered. She set it aside, letting God know she didn’t have the strength to read anything from Him right now. Besides, she thought, she’d read them so many times before. Thanks for joining us for Wednesday’s Word with Kim-Evinda and Trench Classes United. If you’ve ever been disappointed, disillusioned and/or dismayed by someone’s choices, today’s word is for you. Curiosity got the best of her and so she started to read: “Blessed is the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” “Poor in spirit” caught her attention like it always had every time she had read it. Something told her to dig a little further, like she used to, and learn whatever He had for her this morning. Ahh, “poor” is in the Bible over 200 times! She eagerly looked up the definition for this verse, hungry to learn, wanting desperately to feel Him there with her again. The Greek definition for “poor’ is “begging, beggarly” I didn’t even know there was such a word, she thought. She continued: “crouched down, powerless.” Those last two words resonated with her soul and the slightest of sparks of His Spirit warmed her momentarily. But the last one revealed the truth of it all, that she was powerless over others’ actions and choices and responsible only for her own. It was like a little wave of validation reminding her that she had done all that God had asked her to do. Now she must wait to see how in the world He would turn this into something for her good and His glory; that the victory ultimately would be hers, and that He truly did have a plan to lift her up, not tear her down, offering her a future that if she allowed Him to guide, He would provide…beyond her wildest imagination for He was and is a promise keeper. A letter from son to dad: "Dear, Dad. It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend, because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mum and you. I've been finding real passion with Stacy, and she is so nice, but I knew you would not approve of her because of her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes, and because she is so much older than I am. But it's not only the passion, Dad. She's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people in the commune, for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS, so Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it! Don't worry, Dad. I'm 15, and I know how to take care of myself. Someday, I'm sure we'll be back to visit, so you can get to know your many grandchildren. Love, your son, Joshua. P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Jason's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the school report that's on the kitchen table. Call when it is safe for me to come home! Oh, yes, as parents, isn’t it true that we need to choose our battles wisely! Thanks so much for joining us for Monday’s Message with Abigail and Trench Classes United. Let’s face it, friends, there are times when we just feel storm-tossed, but there is One who remains constant, working all things together for the greater good, including ours. Like a red sparrow Hunting with no arrow Yet, set out on a mission To live this life she has been given Picking up bits and pieces Fragments of wisdom As she flies along the rough mountain ridges Ready for battle Her mind sharp Infallible Feeling the power As the wind surrounds her Encompassing this moment Marking her surroundings Knowing that one day She will look back on this & see it clearly Profoundly Perceiving that this season This time that seems like a riddle of rhyme With no reason Was the moment of significance The weight lifting as it it seeped in That light she's been chasing contemplating Where it had gone? But all this time She was wrong Because all along That light she thought finally seeped in She actually just started to believe in Her mission no longer about seeking shelter But to see the cards that have been dealt to her The moments that seemed like utter hell to her That light was there Pulling her Helping her Finding her way in the dark Listening to the songs of the meadowlark Her Guardian Angel Her Savior He was there As she fell into the deep pits Along the jutting mountain ridge He held her In the hours of pure agony Of wearisome fits & He sang a song That went something like this: "For though the mountains should depart and the hills be shaken or removed, Yet My love and kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace and completeness be removed, Says the Lord, who has compassion on you. O, you afflicted, storm-tossed and not comforted, Behold, I will set your stones in fair colors and lay your foundations with sapphires. And I will make your windows and pinnacles of [sparkling] agates or rubies, And your gates of [shining] carbuncles, And all your walls of precious stones." - Isaiah 54:10-12 ~Abigail Rice Faith Filled Friday How many times have you been affected by someone else’s choices that proved to be selfish?
Thanks so much for joining us for Faith-Filled Friday with Debra Dolce and Trench Classes United. Today’s love letter reveals that even when we are hurt by others choices because they are being guided by their flesh does not give us permission to walk in our flesh. ~Love Letter~ My Chosen One, those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. Are you motivated by the flesh, by your own desires? Even in your service to Me, what is motivating you? If you're trying to please Me in your flesh then your motivation is wrong. The Word says that those who worship Me must worship Me in Spirit and in truth. You have a continual choice to be led by your flesh or the impulses of the Holy Spirit. Choose My ways over your own and you will be surprised at where I am leading you. Are you unhappy, or dissatisfied with your life? Is that why you try to please Me through your flesh? You can't make yourself anything. You can walk by faith and live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit and then your life will be full and satisfying. When you follow Me, you will be busy working with Me. Beloved, the Holy Spirit takes your human frailty to empower you in your weakness as you choose My way over your own. ~DebraDolce Thursday’s Truthful Humor Welcome to Thursday’s Truthful Humor with Trench Classes Untied where we love to laugh and pull truth from laughter.
A man joins a soccer team and his new teammates inform him, "At your first team dinner as the new guy, you will have to give us a talk about sex." The evening arrives and he gives a detailed, humorous account of his sex life. When he got home, his wife asked how the evening went and not wanting to lie, but also not wanting to explain exactly what happened, he said, "Oh, I had to make a talk about yachting." His wife thought this a little peculiar but said nothing more and went to sleep. The next day she bumped into one of his new teammates at the supermarket and asked, "I heard my husband had to make a speech last night. How did it go?" His mate smiled, 'Oh, it was excellent! Your husband is clearly very experienced!" The wife looked confused and replied to his mate, "Strange, he has only done it twice and the second time he was sick." Why is it the older we get, the less intimate we become? Ladies, can I share with you that when we get there, we don’t get to blame our hormones on our lack of intimacy with our guy! Believe it or not, God wants to help you in this area of your life, too! Thanks for joining us for Wednesday’s Word with Kim-Evinda and Trench Classes United. Have you ever had trouble switching your thoughts, turning them on to something else other than the problem you were in the midst of? Doesn’t it feel like the force to stay focused on what’s wrong instead of what’s right is so great, almost like you are physically being pulled out of hope’s reach? In this current SOS (Season of suffering) I find myself in, I do believe Abba is trying to teach me many things, one of which is where the mind is, the heart will follow. Could a change in my circumstance be as simple as changing my focus? And please, don’t think this is meant to minimize any sort of suffering, but I can say in this season – which is the most suffering I’ve endured…ever – one thing I know is GOD NEVER wastes anything. As I was praying about what I would share this week, two of my devotions were on this very subject: where is our mind in these hard times? Our weaknesses prove the hard times are hard! But isn’t His strength made perfect in my weakness? Abso-darn-lutely yes! But we won’t know it until we try it. What does that look like? I’m so glad you asked. In this upcoming week, can I encourage you – and me -- to focus: On what’s right instead of what’s wrong On the Problem Solver instead of the problem On the Triumphant one instead of the tragedy On the Champion Character Developer versus the challenge or struggle On the Promise Keeper instead of the broken promise On the One that is greater in me than he who is in the world On the Provider and Provision instead of the shortage On His strength, not my weakness On His love for me and not the hatred all around us Friend, these situations, circumstances and seasons we find ourselves in our opportunities for God to be God in our lives, opportunities to change the direction of our focus that we may be more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Ralph is driving home one evening, when he suddenly realizes that it's his daughter's birthday and he hasn't bought her a present. He drives to the mall, runs to the toy store, and says to the shop assistant, "How much is that Barbie in the window?" In a condescending manner, she says, "Which Barbie?" She continues, "We have Barbie Goes to the Gym for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Ball for $19.95, Barbie Goes Shopping for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Beach for $19.95, Barbie Goes Nightclubbing for $19.95, and Divorced Barbie for $265.00." Ralph asks, "Why is the Divorced Barbie $265.00 when all the others are only $19.95?" "That's obvious," the saleslady says. "Divorced Barbie comes with Ken's house, Ken's car, Ken's boat, Ken's furniture..." As nothing But dust Wondering when enough Becomes enough When will the words that I pray Make way When will my cries Of agony and shame Be stripped away When will You hear this? Because right now I need You to steer this To take this ship that I am wrecking And make into something worth protecting My heart is there But my mind it is gone Losing patience Like a melody With no song No voice to sing the words Or lyrics to stir A movement within me Because that is what's missing Your presence Your spirit Lord, I know You can hear this Wash Your mercy and grace Like pure oil Let it run down my face Let it flow from my crown As my soul fire roars loud Yet, I lay in this bed This grave I have dug From the lies I've been fed Am I sinking? Am I floating? Am I drowning? Lord, surround me Surround me with mighty Angels And lift me to Your table Where I can bask in Your beauty With no worry Or no duty Just simple peace As Your spirit pierces through me Am I worthy? Surely not Why You've called me I've forgot Forgotten what it feels like To be Your child To dance in the sun And feel giddy as a juvenile So remind me I plead To bestow Your mercy upon me Undeserving I bleed And will keep bleeding As I fight To restore again The wonders of my mind The power I have If I can just look inside And by Your grace, Lord It will all be alright “And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, And brought you up out of your graves.” - Ezekiel 37:13 -Abigail Rice |
