Thursday’s Truthful HumorOur fourth grader celebrated his birthday on crutches, so he couldn’t carry the cupcakes into school without help. I asked our sixth-grader, Noah, to help his brother carry them in.
“I could,” he said, “but I’d prefer not to.” Spotting a teaching moment, my husband asked Noah, “What would Jesus do?” Noah answered, “Jesus would heal him so he could carry his own cupcakes.” That’s a great piece of humor from Rachel Nicholas, but isn’t there such innocent truth in kids? How insightful it is when we make the time to take the time to listen to them. For more encouragement, take a tour at www.trenchclassesunited.com.

I saw this story in the Readers' Digest this morning, and my response was pretty much the same as yours. Noah is right. I've been thinking and praying about healing a lot over the last couple of years, and the more I look into it, the greater the tragedy of the majority of our churches' impotence becomes. To be more pointed, my own apparent inability to do what Jesus did (and told his disciples to do) is a sad state of affairs.
