Wednesday’s Word

Taking time to ‘just be’ will lead you to and through what to do©

​“How am I ever going to do all of this, Lord?”
The answer came within seconds of her cry.

​Thanks for joining us for Wednesday’s Word with Kim-Evinda and Trench Classes United. What is it you do when you are feeling overwhelmed, when there’s so many things to do on your to-do list? Today’s blog addresses a solution to that common phenomenon.

As she sat still asking Him to guide her through the task ahead of her, she was directed to John 15:4-7:  “Abide in Me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me., I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch, and they gather them and throw them into the fire and they are burned. If you abide in Me and My Word abides in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you.”

She read it again and “abide(s)” caught her attention…seven times!  He obviously was sending her a message.
Humbled by His truth, she allowed it to wrap around her heart and soul, and it scattered the feeling of being overwhelmed back to where it had come from, the enemy himself. Soon another truth surfaced: to accomplish the task that lay before her over the next seven weeks would require a sacrifice.

“Really, Lord? Aren’t I doing enough?”

She desperately yearned to help others come to the realization that God loves them too much to leave them the way they are. He desires to come alongside them to uproot any and all things that interfere not just with the reception of His love but the perception of His love.

While there would be a sacrifice requiring more of her time to mentor and disciple so as to achieve her heart’s desire, all that would really be required of her would be to abide…her hunger to do what He was calling her to do sent her searching for the Greek translation and as she read it, while she wasn’t surprised, her soul was soothed:  “To wait for,  await, To endure without yielding,  withstand; To bear patiently,  endure, To remain in one place.

The final statement caught her attention: “Abiding is related to the concept of being rather than doing.”

This begged another cry of her heart: How can I just be without doing?

The answer was profound:
“Allow me to lead, daughter, and you can only do that by being with Me. It is in your times of being that I will lead you to do what I want you to do.”

Friend, can I encourage you to make the time to take the time to just be with The One who loves you more than anyone else and allow Him to guide you to and through what He wants you to do.
