Thursday's Truthful HumorA lady goes to the doctor and complains that her husband is losing interest in sex. They talk for a few moments and the doctor gives her a pill, but warns her that it's still experimental. We’re finding the results are better when you put it into mashed potatoes at dinner.
She thanks him, takes the prescription and goes on her way. That night, she does what the doctor instructed her to do. About a week later, she’s back at the doctor, where she says, "Doc, the pill worked great! I put it in the potatoes just like you said! It wasn't five minutes later that he jumped up, raked all the food and dishes onto the floor, grabbed me, ripped all my clothes off, and ravaged me right there on the table!" The doctor says, "I’m sorry, we didn’t realize the pill was that strong! My office will be glad to pay for any damages." "Nah," she says, "that's okay. We're never going back to that restaurant anyway." Hey, during this time of uncertainty, connection is key!!!! There’s no greater time to connect with those we love, to make amends with those unlovable, and of course to connect on a deeper level with our spouse! Wednesday's WordLooking back thru my journal this past week, reviewing the highs and lows, the lessons I’ve learned, those I’m still learning and even those I’m unlearning, I am pleasantly astounded at how He speaks to us thru His Word, if we’ll only stop and listen. And I don’t even know why I’m so surprised because He does it again and again, despite me and despite this COVID-19 😊
No matter what situation you or I find ourselves in, this verse is a powerful source of encouragement. It can be a life preserver in the midst of the sea, an anchor for our souls. What is so sovereign about this verse is it speaks to us differently EVERY time we read it. Why or how? Because life keeps happening and with life comes different storms of trials and circumstances. Friend, in this global time of uncertainty, may I encourage you to look at this verse, read it, then say it aloud again and again. I guarantee you that when you do this and allow it to soak into your soul, it will bloom in your life: Psalm 138:8: The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. Now put the “thing that concerns you” in that portion of scripture. I’ll go first: The Lord will perfect my marriage… Here’s the condition to the promise: Does it concern us or consume us? If it’s consuming us then we’re not trusting Him to perfect whatever it is that is concerning. So what is the “thing that concerns” you? Is it finances, your job, and all the other monetary things that are being threatened by this global pandemic? What if we were to live like we believed the words in this promise? Would we finally stay still on the Potter’s wheel and let Him have His way, allowing Him to perfect us in the process to prepare us for the promise, not allowing ourselves to be consumed by that which concerns us? Trying to not be consumed by that which concerns me… Kim-Evinda Tuesday's Truthful HumorThis single guy named Bill wanted a horse. He began to shop and saw an interesting ad on Craigslist which was advertising a “Christian horse.” He sent an inquiry and made arrangements to go see this horse.
When Bill got to the ranch, he introduced himself to the horse's owner and they talked small talk on their way to where the horse was. As soon as Bill saw the horse, he couldn’t help but get excited and asked if he could ride him, take him for a test drive, so to speak. The owner said, sure, "It's easy to ride him. Just say 'praise the Lord' to make him go, and 'amen' to make him stop." Bill got on the horse and said "praise the Lord." the horse started to walk. "Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, praise the Lord" and the horse is running. Now Bill sees the cliff and says: "AMEN." The horse stops and Bill says: "Whew! Praise the lord!" The Word of God says that He inhabits the praises of His children…can I encourage you to find at least five things to praise Him for each day? I feel weak Trapped I cannot escape this fate I have been given and I question why? Why have I been picked? and I feel shame Like it's a sin I feel to blame I cannot win But this This is not a game This is not a competition This is just the season I am in But I beg and I plead Please take this sickness away from me Of doing too much Not feeling the love Self-pity and loathe I am a sinking boat The sails are there I just don't care My heart is far I cannot hear the call To be strong Yet weak Because you, oh Lord, are already strong enough for me You carry me When all I want to do is bury me In distractions In over reactions The tears that create waves I can't breathe No, I am brave I am not better I cannot storm this weather Lord, it is You who saves It is You who says "Do not be afraid" Hear me Lord Be near me Lord The storm has been tamed Deep breathe I am okay Take my heart My burdens My serpents Lord, it is You that has been there from the start "…In repentance and rest you will be saved, in quietness and trust is your strength… Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you, For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him." - Isaiah 30:15 and 18 -Abigail Rice Faith-Filled FridayWow, there sure is more time to get back to the truths of life, huh? Thanks for joining us for Faith-Filled Friday with Trench Classes United and Debra Dolce.
~Love Letter~ My chosen, become intimate with Me in whatever you do, and I will lead you wherever you go. Spend time with Me and know My heart. My Word continually teaches you My heart. Be sensitive to Me and the move of My Spirit that you may walk in the Light. I know at times your vision may become cloudy because of all the distractions in life, but refocus by receiving a fresh anointing, which WILL come as you sit in My Presence. Surrender the false gods in your life! Surrender all anger, disillusionment and disappointment. Surrender how you thought things should have been. What are you struggling with and why? My Word tells you I have a plan for you and it's for good and not evil. Anything other than that is a false god. Remember I said, life and death are in the power of the tongue. What are you speaking? Beloved, speak against anything that is contrary to My Word. ~DebraDolce Thursday's Truthful HumorA woman awoke during the night to find that her husband was not in bed. She put on her robe and went downstairs and found him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in front of him. He appeared to be in deep thought, just staring at the wall.
She saw him wipe a tear from his eye and take a sip of his coffee. "What's the matter, Dear? Why are you down here at this time of night?" she asked. "Do you remember twenty years ago when we were dating and you were only 16?" he asked. "Yes, I do," she replied. "Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car kissing?" "Yes, I remember." "Do you remember when he shoved that shotgun in my face and said, 'Either you marry my daughter or spend twenty years in jail?" "Yes, I do," she said. He wiped another tear from his cheek and said, "You know...I would have gotten out today." Oh, how true it is that marriage wasn’t meant to be a prison but a place of freedom to grow into all that you were meant to be… Yes, marriage isn’t a prison but a mirror…What are you reflecting today in your marriage? I will shut down businesses, schools, places of worship and sports event. I will cause economic turmoil.” (C.S. Lewis 1942)
Well, who would of thunk it, huh? Did C.S. Lewis write this knowing it was going to happen? Was this a prophecy? Thanks for joining us for Wednesday’s Word with Trench Classes United and Kim-Evinda. I don’t know about you, but I can only take so much of the doom-and-gloom of the news. Now that ‘s not to say I stick my head in the sand and pretend that all of this COVID-19 nightmare isn’t happening, but can I get a witness that God is STILL on His throne? I don’t know about you, but I am indeed guilty of wanting to understand all of life’s challenges and make sense of them. However, God continues to show patience as I endeavor to learn that there are many things I don’t get to understand and instead of investing energy into that useless endeavor, maybe I should invest myself differently. This truth is certainly relevant in this season of global uncertainty. What does it matter where it started, how it started, what this person says about it, or they say about it, what the President is declaring, what this city is doing, this county is not doing, what those in office say or do? Why can’t we take the energy we are using to disagree to find some commonality? While this pandemic is huge and affecting us in all areas of life, we need to let go of those things we cannot change – actions, attitudes and advertisements of others – and focus our attention on those things we can change. Our one God-given and God-requested response to any situation involving our leaders is to P.R.A.Y.! During this COVID-19 season may we truly become a nation that prays: Praise Him: He absodarnlutely honors our praises, especially when they are given in a season of suffering. There is ALWAYS at least ONE thing to praise Him for…and often more than that each and every single day we are given. Repent: of any actions or attitudes or advertisements that we participate in that are not Christ-like. In other words, instead of investing negatively in the actions, attitudes and advertisements, be a part of the solution by offering encouragement, fueling your faith thru His Word and living like you believe. Ask Him: for help in all areas that concern us. He wants to be invited into ANYTHING that concerns us. He’s just waiting for us to ask. Yield to His will and not our own: What is God doing in you, and me, that He may work through you, and me, during this time of uncertainty? Considering the acrostic for Pray, now read the other half of C.S. Lewis’s quote written in 1942: “Jesus: ‘I will bring together neighbors, restore the family unit. I will bring dinner back to the kitchen table. I will help people slow down their lives and appreciate what really matters. I will teach my children to rely on me and not the world. I will teach my children to trust me and not their money and material resources.’” Just maybe, we still have some yielding to do? Thoughtfully, Kim-Evinda Tuesday's Truthful HumorA single mom had three sons and when they grew up, they went out on their own and prospered. Each of them wanted to do something nice for their mom, get her some sort of extraordinary gift, and if truth be told, they were trying to outdo each other…
Anyway, after they had each blessed her, they got together to discuss their gifts. The oldest son said: "I built a big house for our mother." Wow, the two brothers exclaimed. The middle son said: "I sent her a Mercedes with a driver." That was thoughtful the others said. The youngest said: "You remember how our mother enjoys reading the Bible. Uh-huh Well, now she can't see very well. So I sent her a remarkable parrot that recites the entire Bible. It took elders in the church 12 years to teach him. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse and the parrot recites it." The other two were really impressed. After receiving their gifts, their mother sent out her letters of thanks. "Milton," she said, "the house you built is so huge. I live only in one room, but I have to clean the whole house.” "Gerald," she said, "I am too old to travel. I stay most of the time at home so I rarely use the Mercedes. And that driver is so rude!!" "But Donald," she said, "the little chicken you sent was delicious!" Ahh, what are you doing with your time and talents in this time of uncertainty? To share them in this time of uncertainty is perhaps the greatest investment you’ll ever make into others and self. A best friend Someone I can lean on and love until the very end Yet, some days I forget I forget I am not alone I forget that this life is not my own That we are one One body One soul Given in unity Perfect and whole Crafted for each other To achieve the goal Fulfilling Your will Until the trumpet blows Our hearts desire As we walk by faith In this world full of fire But I I get tired and I catch myself Leaning on my own thoughts As they crowd and conspire Telling me I am alone Useless, worthless Nothing more than a vague undertone But I see You in the distance, Lord Solid Unshakeable Our forever cornerstone Showering us with a love That can never be overthrown and I catch myself In the moment In the midst As my human nature slips and Your Spirit reminds me That this This is it I am called I am created To be a partner To be a lover To be a wife To be a mother But most importantly, Lord To be your soldier and hand in hand we will stand In unity In love United by a band To be more than our own To be Your movers Your shakers Seekers and disciple makers Chasing the grace of Your throne Faith-Filled FridayIf there has ever been a time to faithe (rhymes with bathe) now is that time. The COVID 19 has caused a lot of those in the faith to question their faith, and yet, what would the outcome look like if we kept living like we believe He’s fighting for us and has already won the victory over EVERY virus? Thanks for joining us for faith-filled Friday with Trench Classes United and Debra Dolce. Come on in for a fueling of your faith
Love Letter~ My chosen, without faith living within you, it would be impossible to please Me. For you come to Me in faith knowing that I am real and that I reward the faith of you who passionately seek Me. Faith opens your heart to receive revelation and warnings from Me about what is to come, even things that have never been seen. Just like Noah, he received My gift of righteousness that comes by believing. I know that at times you struggle because of all the uncertainty around you, but take authority over every thought casting down ALL vain imaginations. Instead, consider all that I have done and I will continue to care for you, for that is My promise to you. Do not be afraid. Do not continue to concentrate on the lack, but come and sit with Me and let My love comfort you. Beloved, everything you need is wrapped up in Me. ~DebraDolce |
