As I was driving home today I saw seven posted signs along the road that said: “How to get a cheap divorce.” (Now before you stop reading this, this has no condemnation to anyone who’s gone through a divorce.) But my heart was grabbed and I thought, you never see the world putting out signs of “Come and get help for your marriage”; -- at least I’ve never seen that.
I was compelled to encourage the marriages out there to be anchored not in each other, but in Christ alone. That is the only firm foundation. All other ground is sinking sand.
When I look at this picture of my husband and me, I feel it’s so symbolic. Just imagine for a moment that instant when you said “ I DO.” In that moment, God gave your marriage a bag. And you don’t know what “surprises” are inside. It’s a journey map of twists and turns as you follow God together; the good times, the joys, the sorrows and pain, the dreams and hopes. Then there is one thing in that bag He gives you both and it’s His Word because as the scriptures say, “Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path.”
I don’t know where you might be in your marriage; it might be fantastic or it might be hanging on for dear life. Whatever season you are currently in, reach into your bag and grab the one thing that will help you keep your eyes on God. Read your Bible daily and pray together. Seek God. Bring your burdens and your thanksgiving to Him. Anchor yourself, and your marriage in Christ and watch God move mountains and your marriage will be a testimony of His great LOVE.

Good morning coffee hour friends, today we will be looking at one of my favorite Bible stories in Daniel 3: 14-30.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not submit to King Nebuchadnezzar’s orders to serve and worship his gods. This made King Nebuchadnezzar furious and so outraged that he ordered his men to heat the fiery furnace seven times more than it had been. The furnace’s heat was so intense that it burned and killed the men who were told to put Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace.
This, however, did not frighten either of the three or convince them to change their minds. Read with me.... 
Daniel 3:16-17(ESV) 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
These men had great faith in our God. They believed without a shadow of a doubt that they would be delivered; they didn't know how, but the trusted God nonetheless to deliver them. WOW!
As we read on, we see that they were put into the fierce fire and that King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished to see four men walking in the fire and not three. He even had to question his men; we threw three men into the fire, right? In awe and amazement, he called them to come out of the fire.

Daniel 3:26 (ESV) 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire.
Look at what King Nebuchadnezzar said,  “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here!
These three men had abounding faith in their God Most High, and by their faith, they showed this wretched king how great their God was.
I look at their great faith and pray that I to could have this great faith in my small circumstances. Their great circumstance is something we are unable to relate to, but their faith is something we can inspire to obtain. I know that we face tiny, small, medium, and large circumstances that require us to have great faith that God is for us and that no matter how tiny or how large the circumstance He will show up the same and with same great power no matter the size of our circumstance.
 
Remember beloveds, Satan is going to put many fires in front of us to discourage us from moving forward up the narrow and steep path God has set before us.  Let us stand tall as these three men did and soak in Gods truth and believe with great faith that God will pull us up from the pit we find ourselves stuck in. We are precious to Him; He knows our thoughts before we think them, He knows the number of hairs on our head, and He cherishes us and is desperately jealous for us. 
 
If you find yourself discouraged this week, then let us stand together in faith and confirm our faith by facing the fire in front us. God is with us in the fire and we will NOT get burned.

There is little to nothing more satisfying or sweeter than to watch the growth of an infant into a toddler, from a toddler to a teen and then from a teen to a young adult. And it’s not just the physical changes that we observe, but the level of maturity as well. But how is it we determine our own growth?

I was working with one of my favorite attorneys the other day; he’s brilliant…sometimes to a fault, and he admitted this when we were talking about the way he forms his questions as we were talking after the deposition.
But I get him; I can literally feel his mind going ahead of his mouth and what comes out sometimes are so many words. This is confirmed when the witness asks him to repeat his question and he looks to me to read it back! J J Praise God, every time I’ve been asked I’ve been able to read it back word for word. He’s a guy who speaks EVERYTHING he’s thinking…just about. I mean, he stores some thoughts up his sleeve for trial.
We both talked about how difficult it is for us to slow down in our talking, but even more difficult than that is slowing down enough to let others take their time with what they want to say.
This so reminds me of one of the biggest lessons I am still learning in ministry: just because we see something someone is doing, or hear something someone is saying doesn’t mean we get to say something! This is part of growing up spiritually and Proverbs 17:27 describes this level of maturity…in few words!
“He who has knowledge spares his words and a man of understanding is of calm spirit”!
So no matter what we are hearing or seeing, we can remain calm…and spare our words and even choose to say nothing at all.

Welcome to Coffee Hour with Chicklit Power and Monday’s Mantra with Trench Classes United. I’m so happy you joined me today.
Every time I see a child unabashedly jump it just squeezes my heart with such a beautiful word picture of how our Father wants us to trust Him. Perhaps you are a person who has a hard time trusting…
No matter where you are in your journey, spiritual or otherwise, there are four things that we can trust about God which will feed our faith and fuel our hope; these attributes are nonnegotiable and are never, ever going to change. Nothing or no one can change them.

1. His steadfast love; it never changes; never grows weary or irritable! You can’t earn it, burn it so learn itJ
2. His provision – and this is in every area of your life: love life, financial life, parenting life, and His provision is also a form of protection.
3. His promises: there are over 5,000 of them for you and me.
4. His teaching and correcting: We must remain teachable to be taught the truth that trials and hardships are things He uses to refine us and bring us joy.

So Coffee Hour Friend, what circumstance or situation is pushing you to the edge of the ledge, bringing you face to face with the opportunity to just jump, like a child, into the arms of God and trust Him for?

Thanks for joining us for Faith-Filled Friday!
This week on social media a friend of mine posted a song that helped her during a season of anxiety and depression. It is by Hillsong, Young & Free, and it spoke to my heart so I thought it would be great to share it with you.
 
You are peace to a restless soul
Peace when my thoughts wage war
Peace to the anxious heart
That's who You are; that's who You are
You are peace when my fear takes hold
Peace when I feel enclosed
Peace when I lose control
That's who You are; that's who You are
I've found peace far beyond all understanding
Let it flow when my mind's under siege
All anxiety bows in the presence of Jesus the Keeper of Peace
And peace is a promise He keeps
 
Shortly after reading the words to that song, my mom-in-love sent me a message about a passage in the Bible that talks about God anointing our heads with oil. I read the verse from Psalm 23, and the explanation of what it meant for the shepherds in that time to anoint the sheep.
The sheep would get their heads stuck in a barrier, and insects would lay eggs on their heads and in their noses and this would cause them to itch uncontrollably so they would ram their heads into the wall to stop the itch. The shepherds would anoint their heads. This understanding gives so much clarity for this portion of scripture in Psalm 23:5-6
 
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. 
 
I got to thinking, aren't we just like these sheep, getting our thoughts stuck on things that aren't the truth; finding ourselves listening to lies of the enemy to the point we want to bash our heads to make it stop, to silence the constant chaos that is going on in our minds? It takes the simplest thing to set us off course, just one word from someone, one mistake we made, the list is endless.
Beloveds, we aren't perfect and our imperfections make us easy prey for the beast to come to devour us, and he does so by turning us against ourselves. We must allow Him to anoint our heads with oil.
What is this oil? It is His perfect word.
Don't forget beloveds when the lies are overcoming you, to cry out Jesus and allow His Word to anoint your head/mind with oil.

Have you ever heard of “The 7 Sins,” or “The 7 Presumptuous Sins”? Actually, I’ve heard these phrases several times and have been curious about their origin and meaning, but I just haven’t gotten around to studying them…that is until a sweet, sweet young lady that I’ve been mentoring pointed them out with a question.
She showed me a passage of scripture she had circled and outside of the circle was a big question mark. It was this portion of scripture, Proverbs 6:6-19, and as soon as I read it, I had my own a-ha moment for finally I was reading about “The 7 Sins”! To paraphrase, they are: pride, envy, lust, gluttony, anger, greed or sloth. Let’s push the pause button right here!
What caused my heart to pitter-patter was the definition for the 7th sin, sloth. Sloth means “the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.” 
I must admit, I’m ecstatic to see that “spiritual” work is included! What does “spiritual work” mean to you?
We all encounter slothful or lazy people but how would you describe someone who is spiritually slothful? We are told in Philippians 2:2 that we are to work out our salvation…and I do believe that is a daily workout! When I go to the gym, I usually have a routine, if you will, to exercising. I usually start with some cardio, and then I concentrate on at least two muscle groups. And I don’t take a long time to do it, but I get it done!
What does a spiritual workout look like? Now, don’t misunderstand me and think I’m saying our salvation is procured by works because it’s not. Our salvation is procured by grace, not works, but it is an exercise to be completed daily; otherwise, how will your spiritual muscles grow?
Diet and exercise do not just apply to the physical being! We are created mind, body and soul and when we feed and/or exercise the body without feeding and/or exercising the soul, we are out of balance. It’s kind of analogous to a car without the fourth tire, or a boat without a captain, or even more dramatic and traumatic, a plane without a pilot.  We’ve got to avoid becoming an emotional wreck and out of balance as a result of spiritual slothfulness. 
To create a spiritual diet, think of it as Digesting Internally Eternal Things.  What does that mean? Well I’ll answer with a question: Did you know what goes in is what comes out?   What are you taking in with your eyes, ears and mind…spiritually? You can always begin your spiritually fit routine with prayer! He loves it when you talk with Him and consistent communication with Him is sure to grow your spiritual muscles! Start planning your spiritual diet that you may become spiritually fit and not considered spiritually slothful!
