Monday Message The older we get, the faster it goes! Thanks for joining us for Monday’s Message with Abigail Rice and Trench Classes United. What a great poem about this taken-for-granted commodity, time! Are we redeeming the time?
Time A pressure line Not sure why When I look up It seems all gone Wasted away Filled with shame As the days pass on We long and we wait For better things To just be happy To feel okay When all along Our heart stays the same There is no change No big break And we fade In and out In and out In and out Like a flickering light Trying to hold on To anything Maybe we were too late Maybe this is our fate To fill our empty grave With lust, desire, envy, and hate But oh how I long to see those pearly gates! So why can’t I walk straight? Why does my path bend and break? Making me stumble into deep darkness My soul's black lake As I drown until I dissipate Too little Too late I didn’t step up to the plate I fell I sank and here I am Begging Pleading for another chance A clean slate To make me new To be like the seed that grew In lush soil A heart so loyal But I sit and I wonder Where did I go wrong? How did I end up on these rocks? Is this just a test? Am I not giving it my best? Lest I be anything other than a sorrowful mess Even though When I look around, I see that I am blessed So the question begets How do I untangle from this dark Treacherous web? Time is a funny Fickle thing But sometimes all God answers with is Wait… “The one on whom seed was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and at once welcomes it with joy; yet he has no [substantial] root in himself, but is only temporary, and when pressure or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles and falls away [abandoning the One who is the source of salvation]. And the one on whom seed was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the worries and distractions of the world and the deceitfulness [the superficial pleasures and delight] of riches choke the word, and it yields no fruit. And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, some a hundred times [as much as was sown], some sixty [times as much], and some thirty.” Matthew 13:20-23 ~Abigail Rice
