Tuesday Trench Truth Years ago, I did a study on the history of Christmas and was rendered
changed. What I learned has caused me to look at why I do what I do at this time of year and for who. I mean, I had a list of who I bought for that was literally a mile plus long! But why? It wasn’t just because I love to give; but an obligation that was truly self-serving. Why do I say that? Because I wanted to fit in, be accepted and look kind, giving and all the other compliments that can come from gift- giving. Now when I create my list to check who’s been naughty or nice, I think twice! In other words, why do I do what I do for whom I do it? Here’s a simple 3-point checker to keep in mind this Christmas to keep Christ in your gift-giving: 1. What is my motive behind the gift? 2. Is it self-serving or other-serving? 3. Does it fulfill your need/want or theirs? To keep Christ in your Christmas story, don’t give because it’s obligatory. Truthfully, Kim-Evinda
