When life gets overwhelming, unwind in His presence

What do you do when life seems so overwhelming you just want to go under?

We’ve all had those days when life is just handing us too much, the to-do list keeps
getting added to instead of shrinking. It’s in those moments we need to look up, reach
out and recognize the One who’s really in control. We are not alone.

The sky burns bright
Orange like fire
As the sun begins to rise
and I feel not quite
Fully present
Fully known

Waiting for that warm feeling
That one that feels like home

Fully present
Fully known

and as I cycle through the day
I sit and I pray
Asking, Lord, why do I feel this way?

Off
and then on
Off
and then on

As the to-do list piles up
And the day drags on
Still feeling lost

Where is the joy

When you are the boss?
Where is the applause
The gold shiny stars?

When you feel so close
Yet so far

Lord, was I wrong?
Am I too far gone?

and You remind me
As the sky turns to haze
lightning strikes
and I hear that train
Bellowing out
Calling my name

This isn’t a game
There are no points to be scored
No trophies to be won
and when you get hit
You get back up

Because like the lightning that strikes
Illuminating the sky
You’re here to shine
The warrior inside knows
That now is the time

To lay down your pride
and swim into the night
As a being as bright
As the fire orange sky

Yours, Lord, is the time
