Tuesday Trench Truth If we have distanced ourselves from God, then our anger is directed at God. When we
are in relationship with God, and we don’t understand something that’s happened to us or about us, we are angry with Him. Steve Atkinson describes the difference in this way: “This distinction is critical in order to realize the effect our earlier relationships have on our connection with God. To be angry with someone, the assumption is that there is a connection of trust. I am vulnerable, but open with that person because I know when all the dust clears there is still a ‘secure connection.’ I’d know this because I would have learned they could be angry with me and still love me the next day. There is no lingering distance or fear. When I don’t feel trust or connection, I feel resentment but am unable to express it because I’m afraid. There is no resolve, just a repetitious anger at them.” Oh, to be a mirror of His love, the way He sees us. Surrendered to serenity Kim-Evinda
